'Nomophobes' Not Welcome At Palm Island- Grenadines

A recent survey named a new modern day phobia as “nomophobia” applied to people suffering from a fear of being out of contact without their mobile phone. Apparently nomophobes suffer an increase in stress levels when the mobile runs low on battery or is left at home so, for the 13 million people who suffer from the phobia in the UK, Palm Island resort in the Grenadines is not the place to holiday.
The resort has banned the use of phones and blackberries on the main beach allowing holidaymakers the chance to enjoy the peace and tranquility of the lapping waves, warm breeze and rustle of palm leaves instead of your neighbouring sunbathers annoying ringtones.
Rob Barrett, chief executive of Elite Island Resorts said “There is nothing worse than lying on your double hammock, sipping on your Pina Colada and hearing the Motorola jingle in the background. If you prefer to get away for the intruding calls and are happy to switch off the Blackberries, mobiles and laptops and enjoy the sound of the lapping waves then it’s the place for you.“
Palm Island, a 135 acre private island retreat in The Grenadines is famed for its natural beauty, peaceful setting and proximity to the exquisite Tobago Cays. The intimate 43 room resort allows guests to completely unwind and escape the humdrum of daily life. Rooms are free of televisions and telephones, so guests can enjoy the natural sounds of this rare tropical escape.
