Cowley Manor, the renowned country hotel set in 55 acres of private gardens in the Cotswolds, is quite unlike your typical country hotel. Fusing traditional style with contemporary cool, Cowley Manor has won numerous accolades since opening in July 2002, regularly cited in the UK’s top luxury hotel and spa lists.

The interior of the 1885 Italianate Manor is at once flamboyant and unpretentious, lending the grand manor house a funky, relaxed feel. The Hotel’s hip interiors stage green couches, cowhide chairs and flamboyant fabrics, designed exclusively for the Hotel by UK and international designers. The bar offers guests an ultra-cool hangout showcasing exotic cocktails and an extensive wine list, the Hotel’s living room is created with a relaxed ambience, whilst the leather-walled billiard room houses an extravagant blue-blaize pool table.

With just 30 bedrooms, half in the main house and the rest in the transformed stable block, Cowley Manor makes its room classification clear: good, better, great, exceptional and best. Using glass, oak, leather and splashes of exuberant colour, the bedrooms are airy, light and cosy, with oversized bathrooms (some the size of the bedrooms) containing walk-in ‘rain showers’, deep baths and sumptuous amenities by C-side Spa. All of the bedrooms are equipped with mod-cons such as a superior sound system, ipod docking stations and flat screen TVs, and guests can choose music and movies from the extensive library. Special treats such as Chupa-Chups, gummy bears and sour snakes add a certain charm, for children or the young at heart!

Daily-changing menus include modern British comfort food, such as Gloucestershire old-spot bangers and mash alongside home-smoked duck salad, the produce locally-sourced and organic wherever possible. Diners can also take over the private sitting room, or book the private dining room if they are seeking an even more exclusive experience for up to 14 guests.

One of the hotel’s greatest assets is the Grade II* landscape in which it is set, including four lakes, a Victorian cascade, waterfall and medieval church. There is in fact no need to leave Cowley Manor, Wellington boots of all sizes are supplied to guests to stroll around the grounds.
