Castleton House Hotel

Castleton House Hotel is highlighting their special summer prices. Located in Angus, Castleton House Hotel is set amidst rolling green fields. The rich burnt orange earth of this region is Scotland’s kitchen garden with many of the summer berries and vegetables grown here, for all over the UK. Your journey ends as you turn up the long tree lined private drive to Castleton and draw up outside the house that’s surrounded by a burgeoning cottage garden and a croquet lawn. Steeped in local history Castleton’s built on the site of a medieval motte and is situated only five minutes by car away from historic Glamis Castle, (childhood home to the Queen Mother) and within a short distance away from Edinburgh, Perth and St Andrews.
With just six luxury en suite bedrooms (a mixture of standard, superior and suite rooms are available) all individually styled Castleton is perfect for a romantic retreat, intimate gathering of friends and relatives, weddings or a special meal. Vases of fresh garden flowers are placed in the bedrooms as standard and guests are welcomed with complimentary tea and coffee with homemade shortbread. Verity and David Webster, the owners of Castleton feel its these light touches that contribute so strongly to the X factor that everyone looks for when they are looking for somewhere that’s home from home.
Visitors during the spring and summer months will see the gardens festooned in full colour. In late spring as you take the path around the house there are banks of bluebells, flowering rhododendrons and wild garlic and as the summer progresses heady roses and dainty cottage garden blooms.
Further down the driveway the resident chickens can be seen taking a dust bath by the edge of the
garden and basking in the shade under a tree. Guests are welcome to visit the home reared Tamworth pigs, which feature, when they reach maturity, on the restaurants award winning menu. The kitchen garden and apple trees also provide ingredients for the restaurants menu. Guest can enjoy a jug of Pimms out on the lawn or a drink before dinner in the hotel’s bar or sunny informal drawing room. Meals are taken in the light and airy conservatory restaurant where diners can enjoy a varied seasonally changing and freshly prepared menu along with a well matched wine list.
The basic two night price on bed and full Scottish breakfast per room is £200 per night, staying in a standard room. Three course dinner with coffee and homemade petit fours can be added for £35 per person.
