Breathe new life into a dull complexion...with diamonds!

Late nights at work and general life stresses combined with exposure to pollution can leave the skin looking about as luminous as used dishcloth- an unsavoury factor pertinent to life in a City.  And should your daily skin routine be about as routine as the London Underground, you’d probably be interested to here that salvation is at hand.

Arriving positively ‘wrung out’, I looked like my skin hadn’t seen a pillow or bottle of water for the better part of a month but left, miraculously, looking I’d just celebrated my 14th birthday.

 Once you wiggle yourself comfortable on the reclining bed, your skin is cleansed exfoliated then followed by a unique diamond sensory massage energising and regenerating the skin. As your face is buffed and polished, you are actively encouraged to, should you want to, get in on 90 minutes worth of sleep. I did manage to catch some z’s until the stage the tuning fork was introduced (yes, tuning fork) Albeit one of the strangest paraphernalia I’ve had near my face, it felt bizarrely comforting- the small vibrations stimulating different areas of the face whilst encouraging the skin’s absorbing properties.

The last stage of the treatment seals the deal. The diamond face mask is applied to the, err, face, and left to work its magic. I was told it would reduce pores, replenish the skin with various goodies and generally leave you feeling like you’ve just won Miss World. However dubious I was about this (this mask had one hell of a job cut out for it) every inch of scepticism was massaged from my limbs by my therapist during the 20 minute procedure. A gentle arm, hand and shoulder rub preceded a slightly more rigorous Japanese Shiatsu massage.

After the 1 ½ hours during which my face was polished, buffed, moisturised and massaged, I edged towards the mirror, eyes nearly wincing at the celestial shards of  golden brightness reflecting off the glass. It was like Kim and Aggie had done the once over-minus the lemon juice, pink marigold, and the army of helpers. I was the proud owner of a complexion!

I sipped my soothing camomile tea, which was served up after the treatment, and smugly tried to find as many shiny surfaces I could find in which I could catch my reflection glowing back at me. It was a pity I didn’t have a friend accompany me with whom I could enjoy a glass of wine with in Brown’s pleasantly accommodating bar but I soon forgot about my attempts of retoxifying my skin as I heard the first wolf-whistle in weeks- whether it was in my direction or not, my skin and I were positively beaming.
