Lawyers Drink The Most Tea
The legal profession are the biggest tea drinkers in the UK
In a recent survey commissioned by international development charity ActionAid, it was discovered that those in the legal profession consume more cups of tea during the working day than any other sector.
The nationwide poll, examining the tea and coffee habits of the British, showed that 70% of legal workers drink over three cups a day with one in five drinking over six cups – that’s a minimum of 180 cups a month.
Compared with other professions such as HR, sales and media, where half of employees drink less than three cups a day, legal professionals definitely appear to crave caffeine more than anyone else.
Other main findings in the poll include:
• One in three British office workers take tea and coffee breaks due to boredom at work, whilst one in five deliberately make more tea and coffee to climb the career ladder
• Sheffield is the tea drinking capital of the UK, with one in three residents consuming over six cups a day!
• London office workers are the biggest gossipers during their tea and coffee breaks than anywhere else in the UK
• Most office workers personalise their work space with a tea or coffee mug – more than photographs or other personal items
Commissioned ahead of the charity’s 24 Hour Tea and Coffee Break in February, the poll also revealed that over a third of workers in the legal profession make more tea and coffee for their boss as a way of climbing the career ladder. This compares to a national average of one in five who admit to being so sneaky.
ActionAid’s 24 hour Tea ad Coffee Break spokesperson said: “We are definitely a nation of tea and coffee lovers. On Friday 29th February, use ActionAid’s 24 Tea and Coffee Break as an excuse to organise your own event and raise some money for a good cause.
By holding a tea or coffee break, you will be helping farmers in some of the poorest parts of the world to end their own poverty in a way that will have a lasting impact for generations."
