Baker Botts’ Strengthens its London Banking and Finance Team

The New Year will see Baker Botts strengthen its banking and finance offering in London, with the promotion of Stuart McIntyre to the Partnership and the hire of Matthew Hinxman as Special Counsel. 

Stuart McIntyre joined Baker Botts in 2008 and will become Partner effective 1 January 2013.

Stuart is an energy and infrastructure finance specialist who advises on a wide range of financing matters, including project financings and acquisition and asset finance transactions. Stuart advises clients on financing transactions across the globe, particularly in Russia and the CIS, UK and Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East. 

Stuart’s recent experience includes advising on the financing of a LNG floating storage and regasification unit in Asia, advising on a LNG project in Africa and advising SUEK on its $1.3 billion pre-expert financing.  

Matthew Hinxman, energy finance specialist, joins from Norton Rose, bringing his expertise in international finance to Baker Botts. He has extensive experience in East European markets, particularly Russia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan. 

Matthew joined Baker Botts in December 2012. While at Norton Rose, Matthew’s experience in

 energy – related financings saw him lead the recent 100MW financing deal for VTB Capital, which was the largest ever solar power project in Europe and the first limited recourse financing in Ukraine in recent years. 

In addition, Hannah Longley, who has extensive experience in the energy sector, is another of the Baker Botts’ London team who will start 2013 as Partner. Hannah joined Baker Botts in 2007 and has advised on upstream oil and gas projects, LNG projects and associated shipping arrangements as well as downstream gas and infrastructure projects.
