BPP Law School announces GDL Consortium firm agreement

BPP Law School announces today that five leading City firms, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Herbert Smith, Lovells, Norton Rose and Slaughter and May have selected BPP Law School as the national provider for their trainees studying the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL).

From September 2009 the Consortium of five firms will be asking their students to attend BPP Law School in Leeds, London or Manchester for their GDL studies. The five firms already send all their trainees exclusively to BPP Law School for the Legal Practice Course (LPC).

Peter Crisp, Dean of the Law School said: “I am delighted that BPP has been selected by the Consortium firms to provide the GDL for its trainees. This is BPP’s first GDL law firm deal and this arrangement deepens and strengthens our relationship with the Consortium firms.”

Ben Hughes, GDL Director of Programmes said: “We are extremely proud of our Distinctive GDL which we believe is the most flexible and innovative programme in the country. In addition to the core GDL subjects, we also offer optional mini-programmes in Evidence and Forensics, Law in the City and International Law, as well as a series of lectures in Company Law. The aim of this GDL Extra programme is to develop students’ commercial awareness alongside their legal knowledge, preparing them for the professional legal courses and ultimately for practice.”
