Robert E. Gordon Joins Troutman Sanders In Its Richmond Office

RICHMOND  - August 20, 2008 - The law firm of Troutman Sanders LLP is pleased to announce the addition of Robert E. Gordon as an associate to its Public Finance practice group in Richmond, Va.

Gordon comes to Troutman Sanders from King & Spalding in Atlanta, where he was an associate in its Finance Practice Group from August 2005 until this year.

At Troutman Sanders, Gordon’s practice will focus on the representation of debt issuers, conduit borrowers, underwriters and credit enhances on a variety of public finance transactions.  In addition, he has experience with tax-exempt financings for governmental entities and authorities, non-profit organizations and foundations, higher-education institutions and hospitals.

Gordon is a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers, and was a member of the Local Government Section of the State Bar of Georgia and the Atlanta Bar Association.  He also served on the Ethics & Professionalism Committee and the Legislative Committee of the Young Lawyers Division of the State Bar of Georgia in Atlanta.

Gordon is the author of “Georgia’s Local Option Sales Tax: A Model for Funding Education Capital Improvements,” a Special Report in State Tax Notes, as well as co-author of “Fundamentals of Bond Financing in Georgia,” which is a part of the Georgia Development Authority Handbook.

Prior to Gordon’s career in law, he served on the staff of the late U.S. Senator Paul Coverdell, and held governmental positions in the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Department of State.

Gordon received a B.B.A. in finance in 1994 from the University of Georgia and a J.D., with honors, in 2005 from The George Washington University Law School, where he served as administrative editor of the George Washington International Law Review.
