New Partners At Sackers

New Partners At Sackers

Sacker & Partners LLP, the UK’s leading specialist pensions law firm, has promoted associates David Saunders and Robin Simmons to partners.

David Saunders is experienced in a wide range of pensions law issues, advising both trustees and employers, and is a member of the team that provides services to other law firms. He often advises on the pensions aspects of corporate acquisitions, disposals and reorganisations. Recent work has included advising clients making changes to their pensions provisions, the legal aspects of scheme funding and the Regulator’s anti-avoidance powers and clearance procedures.

Robin Simmons advises employers and trustees on all pensions law issues. Recently he has focused on advising employers in managing their defined benefit liabilities. He also advises on corporate mergers and acquisitions, notably assisting the trustees of the Boots Pension Scheme in its deal with the KKR-led private equity consortium’s acquisition of Alliance Boots plc.

Robin plays an active role within the industry; he is a member of both the APL’s Education & Seminar Committee and the Pensions Intelligence Advisory Panel established in conjunction with the University of Edinburgh. He also assisted the DWP with the drafting of the Pensions Act 2004.

David has been with Sackers since 2004 and Robin since 2005.

Other promotions announced include the naming of four new associates: Eleanor Daplyn; Caroline Legg; Stuart O’Brien and Sarah Phillips.

Ian Pittaway, senior partner, commented: “We congratulate all those who have received promotions and are particularly pleased to welcome David and Robin as partners. Their hard work and commitment to providing excellent service and advice to their clients merits this step.

“Pensions continue to remain near the top of the corporate agenda and we intend to stay at the forefront of the industry. We strive to reward our team members for their contribution to the firm, and as winners of Pensions Lawyers of the Year, Niche Firm of The Year and holders of the Pensions Law Award for 2008, we remain an attractive place to work.”
