Description
Working as part of the wider CCPG PSL team, you will take on projects and responsibilities which span the whole Practice Group. You will have specific responsibility to support the PIF team and have some involvement in Firmwide projects as part of the Firmwide PSL team. The main aspect of the role to provide up to date precedents, know-how, updating on changes and law and market practice, training and lawyer development.
Key responsibilities:
Responsibilities will include:
tracking developments in applicable guidance (e.g. HM Treasury's Standardisation of PIF Contracts) and providing updates and briefing notes, updating precedents as appropriate; tracking developments in relevant standard form documents (e.g., those made available by the 4ps and/or central government departments/agencies), and advising lawyers as to their contents; identifying available sources of technical and commercial know-how within the PIF team and outside it; developing a know-how structure for the PIF team, in conjunction with Firmwide know-how strategy; gathering relevant know-how and make it available to all lawyers in the most effective and supportive way to suit their activities and workload, and to increase the overall efficiency of the PIF team; identifying the training and development needs of lawyers within PIF (and colleagues outside PIF who support the work of the team); developing a training strategy; assessing how such needs may be met from sources either within or outside the firm; organising the delivery of training (including acting as a trainer where appropriate); obtaining feedback on such training and the effect which it has had on the development of recipients and make any necessary changes; engagement in the Firmwide training strategy; responsibility for PIF precedents; involvement in other precedents as agreed; reviewing, developing and improving the processes adopted by the team, including project management tools.
Skills and experience: You will be a qualified solicitor or barrister and have practised for at least 2 years as a lawyer in projects or Projects Finance work. You need a good understanding of Projects and Project Finance transactions and law. You will need excellent technical legal skills, have effective analytical, verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills. In addition, you will have sound administration and IT skills.
This role can be based in Leeds, Manchester or Nottingham offices. Other offices will be considered for an exceptional candidate.
