Beachcroft requires a solicitor to join our Health Commercial team in Leeds as part of its national Commercial Services team. The national team operates from the Bristol, London, Leeds and Manchester offices and has a market leading reputation with clients throughout the country within the health sector.
Beachcrofts commercial offering to the health sector ranges from advice on procurement of goods and services, through commissioning contracts to joint ventures, mergers and the exploitation of intellectual property and products. Our Health Commercial team advises the Department of Health and all types of NHS bodies including PCTs, SHAs, NHS Trusts and Foundation Trusts. We also provide advice to private sector healthcare providers. The firm is a member of the OGC legal services panel.
Core Responsibilities
You'll be supporting the existing local team and the national Health Commercial Team with realisation of the business plan focusing on delivery of prompt, first class services to the clients of the firm.
Within this role you'll be required to advise public and private sector bodies, principally in the NHS but also in the private sector. You'll be advising in connection with all aspects of commercial contracting including exercise of powers, related constitutional issues, public procurement and in connection with all types of contracts for the purchase of goods and services.
As a member of a busy team you'll be responsible for your own matters and working together with the team on larger matters and the development of client relationships. You'll also be playing an active role in marketing and developing existing and new clients if required.
Key Skills
Ideally you'll possess 1 – 3 years PQE or equivalent as a commercial lawyer in the public or private sector with a thorough knowledge of the Health Service. It is also important to have relevant experience or interest in acting for health sector clients in the provision of commercial matters.In order to succeed within this role you'll need to display a relevant commercial knowledge base (including drafting and negotiation) and have a broad range of knowledge and technical competence. You'll demonstrate a high level of commercial awareness in dealing with clients' matters and understand and adopt the clients commercial perspective rather than an excessively legal approach. It is equally important to display an independent thinking style with a focus on generating commercial and compliant solutions to clients issues.
It goes without saying that you'll be a confident communicator with an ability to develop relationships, undertake client marketing and influence at all levels within client organisations. As a member of the team you'll be change oriented with a positive approach towards the implementation of new initiatives. You'll be an enthusiastic team player with a flexible approach and a willingness to be included in training and supervision.
