Description
Our Property Risk Solutions Team advises many leading insurers on all aspects of property insurance claims. The team in the Bristol office handles subrogated recovery claims, property liability claims as well as advising on policy coverage and fraud. The claims are varied but typically arise out of fire, subsidence, flood and product liability. The team also handles marine claims.
Core Responsibilities
Due to the technical focus of your role, you'll be handling multi-track property liability claims and policy coverage advice. Subject to your experience there will also be scope for you to develop the business on marine claims and policy coverage.
As a point of contact for clients within the team, you'll be demonstrating a level of knowledge and skill commensurate with experience. You'll also be providing assistance to other members of the team as well as managing your own caseload under the appropriate supervision.
Within this role you'll also be supporting marketing and business development activity with a specific focus on one or two clients by attending marketing events and client training sessions. You'll also be forming effective internal and external networks and building on your awareness of the Firm's services strategies and plans. In order to maintain and develop your technical knowledge and exceed CPD requirements you'll be attending training sessions and reading appropriate publications.
You'll be required to comply with Beachcroft protocols on billing and credit control whilst demonstrating a high level of financial management in respect of your own files. You'll be aiming to achieve a minimum budgeted annual target of 1440 chargeable hours per year.
Key Skills
You'll be a solicitor with a demonstrable understanding and previous experience of insurance and/or property litigation work gained through at least 2 years experience. You'll also ideally have a knowledge of policy coverage and liability work and/or marine recovery.
It is important that you have demonstrable ability to adopt a commercial perspective rather than an ‘academic' approach to legal issues and to be highly client focused. You'll also have the ability to operate with a good level of self sufficiency, combined with an awareness of the boundaries of your own competence and authority. When managing your demanding workload you'll demonstrate an ability to work under pressure whilst remaining resilient and robust.
You'll be team oriented and collegiate with an experience of and a willingness to share knowledge with and support other members of the team. In order to succeed within this role you'll be a confident communicator with excellent client handling skills and an ability to develop relationships at all levels. You'll also be change oriented with a positive, flexible approach towards the implementation of new initiatives.
