Gavin Lewis rejoins Herbert Smith from UBS

Herbert Smith announced today that Gavin Lewis has rejoined the Hong Kong litigation and contentious regulatory practice as a partner from UBS AG in Hong Kong.

He spent over two years as a Managing Director heading litigation and regulatory inquiries in Asia-Pacific at UBS AG, covering offices in over 13 countries. During his time at UBS AG, Gavin was responsible for regional litigation and regulatory matters in the investment bank, with experience in the wealth and asset management businesses.

Gavin specialises in litigation and regulatory work, with a particular focus on the financial services sector. He advises clients involved in investigations by the Securities and Futures Commission, Stock Exchange, Commercial Crime Bureau and Independent Commission Against Corruption in Hong Kong, in addition to inquiries by various regulators around the Asia-Pacific region. He represents clients in internal investigations and in providing anti-corruption advice. His litigation experience includes acting for creditor institutions in the debt markets, in addition to injunction, judicial review, auditors' liability, directors’ and shareholders’ disputes work.

Gavin is a regular speaker on compliance and regulatory issues at various conferences in the Asia-Pacific region. He first joined Herbert Smith in London in 1996 and has been based in Hong Kong since 1998.

The Herbert Smith Hong Kong litigation team consists of four partners and two senior consultants, in addition to the seven partners and over 30 associates specialising in disputes in Asia, based in Bangkok, Shanghai, Singapore and Tokyo.
