Survival skills key agenda at JLD's International Weekend

4 September, 2009

Stress management and personal branding awareness will be on the agenda for this year’s junior lawyers International Weekend on September 24-26. Junior lawyers will gather from around the world for the annual event which is organised by a number of organisations, including the Law Society’s Junior Lawyers Division.

LawCare will be providing a seminar on stress management aimed at helping junior lawyers cope with some of the challenges they face in their careers. The conference, which is sponsored by the London School of English and the Commercial Bar Association will also include a presentation aimed at improving junior lawyers’ personal branding to help them stand out during the tough economic climate and beyond.

Heidi Sandy, JLD Chair, says: “Stress is nothing new to lawyers, but we hope a greater awareness early on in a lawyer’s career will be of vital use to them. However, there is a lot more to International Week than how to handle the challenges of our profession.

“The two day programme is rich in a variety. There will be something for everyone and it will not only be about learning. This is a chance to meet with other junior lawyers and build lasting contacts in an international setting.

As well as a range of workshops and seminars, the event will include visits to Parliament and barristers chambers, as well as social events, including a European-themed pub quiz at The Old Cock Tavern.

The weekend will be rounded off with Champagne reception, dinner & dancing at The UnderGlobe, Shakespeare’s Globe.
