Lovells boosts Tokyo and Singapore Offices

Lovells has hired Brian Cassidy and Indonesian energy expert Andi Haryanto, both to be based in Singapore. The expansion of the team follows on from the arrival of leading energy partner Brad Roach along with associate Janine Gill from White & Case in July 2008.

Brian Cassidy has joined Lovells in Singapore as Of Counsel. Specialising in oil and gas work Brian was previously a partner with leading Scottish firm McGrigors and was based in Edinburgh. Andi Haryanto will join the Singapore office in early March.

Commenting on the hires, partner Brad Roach said: "I am very pleased that we have been able to expand our team so quickly since my arrival in July 2008, with lawyers of the calibre of Brian and Andi, as both bring considerable strength and experience to our team.

Lovells will also be launching an energy practice in Tokyo with the hire of ex Herbert Smith senior associate Anthony Raven, who had spent the last year on secondment to Mitsubishi.

Lovells Asia head Crispin Rapinet said: “The Japanese are major players in the oil and gas arena and the idea is that Tony’s practice will tie in with Brad’s. We have clients in this market, which we have not been able to offer energy advice to and we have been keen to address this for a long time.”

Raven’s hire takes Lovells’ Tokyo office to five partners.
