War Made Easy: How Presidents and Pundits Keep Spinning us to Death (2007)
Narrated by Sean Penn, this engaging documentary declares that the American media has been persistently complicit with Government in disseminating deceptive propaganda to drag their country into unnecessary conflict.
Pointing the finger at Presidents past and present, as well as virtually every news outlet in the United States, and led by media critic Norman Solomon, the film draws parallels between the wars in Vietnam and Iraq, accusing the supposedly free media of being in cahoots with the White House and the Pentagon in misleading and misinforming the American public.
Archive footage of familiar faces from Nixon to Dubya add clout to Penn and Solomon's line of reasoning, and while some may find the tone, similar to that of Michael Moore's works, somewhat alarming (verging as it does on propaganda in its own right) it is an undeniably persuasive argument and one which will surely encounter little resistance in the minds of European audiences.
