This April (2008), The Botanist arrives in Sloane Square, marking Tom and Ed Martin’s latest London bar and restaurant.
Named in honour of adventuring naturalist Sir Hans Sloane, whose vast private collection of plant and animal specimens formed the core of The British Museum and later The Natural History Museum, The Botanist will draw together influences from far and wide, whilst remaining essentially British at heart.
In a room dominated by a gallery of hand painted illustrations from Sloane’s Caribbean exploration, diners will enjoy such contemporary appetisers as white asparagus with cepès and fried egg; salad of sautéed sweet breads, crayfish and artichoke crisps with sherry dressing. Mains will include free-range organic baby Spring chicken breast and confit leg with caramelised shallot tart and foie gras velouté and Gloucestershire Old Spot pork cutlet with baked stuffed apple, black pudding, Pommery mustard mash and cider jus. Desserts will feature Eccles cakes with Earl grey tea custard and pecan and banana pudding with chocolate ice cream.
Open all day every day for breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon tea, supper and Sunday roasts.
