Portal Restaurant and Bar Launch New Lunch Menu
Portal Restaurant and Bar
88 St John Street
London
EC1M 4EH
Portal Restaurant and Bar is a modern European restaurant based in the centre of The City at 88 St. John Street, EC1 that combines the buzzy conviviality of Iberian dining, with bold interior design, a specialist wine list and sophisticated cooking. Heavily inspired by Portuguese and French cuisine, Portal embraces the cutting edge, whilst retaining a touch of the rustic traditional, creating a unique and friendly oasis of unpretentious style in an area of London otherwise defined by uniformity.
Owned by Antonio Correia (former manager of Café du Marché), Portal has introduced ‘Modern Portuguese’ fare to a London audience, adding to it an exceptional wine list, and a design that combines unobtrusive space with congenial atmosphere.
Now with their third birthday around the corner Portal is taking a new approach to the average lunchtime menu. From late March 08 a new tapas menu is available in the expanded front of house bar area with dishes like Chorizo in red wine sautéed with dried chili and garlic, Gambas em alho and Baby octopus patanicas available.
Not only does the menu include the best of Portuguese Petiscos but the chef behind the creations is on show at the front of the restaurant preparing and cooking a selection of dishes for the patrons. Currently a reasonably unique concept in London restaurants, show cooking enables the guests to enjoy the whole experience with the fresh ingredients, appetizing smells whilst learning from the pros!
Cocktail specialist Leandro Pacheco also introduces a revised cocktail list to the adapted 25 cover bar with some tasty new introductionsalongside some of Portal’s traditional favourites. Cocktails on offer include New Wembely, Chocolate House and Alexander alongside the Portal originals Red Snapper Portal, Amigo and Sleepy Hollow.
