Cubism Law Limited was set up in 2006 by Andrew Pena. Cubism Law is a niche commercial dispute law firm based in the City of London. It is a new kind of commercial law firm with a business model which is uniquely geared to take advantage of the Legal Services Act by moving away from the outmoded partnership structure and rewarding lawyers for managing their own businesses within a business.
This firm specialises in commercial litigation and dispute resolution and insolvency – where Cubism Law has teamed up with two leading Barristers’ Chambers - insurance disputes, professional negligence, insolvency and bankruptcy, banking litigation, property, company and commercial, franchise law and employment law.
Since launching three years ago Cubism Law has been able to triple turnover and double its headcount year on year and has now embarked on a major recruitment drive. The firm recruits senior lawyers with established credentials providing the infrastructure to allow each lawyer to focus on managing their clients and growing their own practice. Overheads are kept low by not employing countless numbers of support staff or junior lawyers.
The model also delivers real time rewards where, on a monthly basis, each Consultant receives drawings that reflect the exact value of the financial contribution they have made to the Firm. This means that poorer performing people do not hold back the big hitters. That, in turn, creates less politics within the organisation.
Cubism Law’s vision is threefold:
1. A franchised law firm – A network of independent business minded lawyers all using its brand and trading from its offices in Chancery Lane (2008-10) leading to the licensing of the brand, business model and systems to a network of franchised operators throughout the UK (2011) and beyond (2012)
2. A litigation one-stop-shop through collaborations with specialist barristers’ chambers
3. The Solicitors Work Bench - A state of the art user friendly IT system developed through a joint venture with Kaisos
