Thomas Eggar LLP assist with Bewley Hotel changes

Leading southern law firm, Thomas Eggar, advise hotel group on sale of its UK operations

Leading southern law firm, Thomas Eggar LLP, can today reveal that it has advised the Bewley Hotel Group on the sale of its branches in Leeds and Manchester. The value of the whole deal, which also saw its Irish (ROI) collection of four hotels acquired by the Moran Group, is believed to be in the region of €570million.

The sale, which was subject to ROI corporate law, saw John Riddick, partner at Thomas Eggar's new Newbury branch, advise the client on the UK corporate elements of the deal, assisted by his colleagues Paul Viner and Nicola Laing on all property issues.

As a cross-border deal, the Thomas Eggar LLP team were involved on the UK aspects of the sale. With the possibility of limited contact with the client, Thomas Eggar LLP ensured clear communication channels were established between the two parties as early as possible resulting in a prompt completion.

John comments: "From the initial introduction, our emphasis was on getting the deal completed as soon as possible. Our team offers a sympathetic view to our client's needs and we listen to any specific requests they may have. Due to the cross border nature of this deal, it was essential to ensure the Bewley Hotel Group received the best possible outcome despite the potential complications."

Senan Burke of Adams Solicitors who acted on behalf of the Bewley Hotel Group says: "This was an incredibly quick turnaround for a process that usually takes twice as long. It is testament to the team at Thomas Eggar LLP that the transaction was trouble-free. We can look forward to a new chapter in the Bewley Hotel Group story."
