First Rights Searches For Legal Sponsor For 2009 Special Olympic
A major legal sponsor is being sought for the 2009 Special Olympics GB National Summer Games, which will be held at the Walkers Stadium and a number of major venues across the City of Leicester & Rutland from 25-31 July 2009.
Current sponsors of Special Olympics Great Britain include Coca Cola, Domino’s Pizza and National Grid among others, and sponsors for the 2009 Summer Games are being sought in a variety of sectors including telecoms, automotive and financial, as well as utilities.
First Rights, the leading rights and sponsorship business within the First Artist Corporation, has been tasked with securing a broadcast partner and creating various sponsorship opportunities for national and regional organisations or businesses, including a likely national media campaign, significant branding opportunities in and around Leicester before and during the event, as well as a substantial platform for integrating a corporate social responsibility programme.
The 2009 Special Olympics GB National Summer Games will be watched by more than 20,000 people and will see 3,000 athletes from across the UK compete in 21 different sports including swimming, kayaking, athletics, basketball, badminton, football, gymnastics, golf and judo.
Special Olympics Great Britain (SOGB) is the major provider of sporting opportunities for people with a learning disability and provides equality of opportunity for all their athletes regardless of ability or degree of disability.
Currently there are more than 1.2 million people across Great Britain with a learning disability who may not have an opportunity to take part in sport at any level. The National Summer Games is the highlight of the SOGB calendar.
Gareth More, First Rights director, said: “The packages will give potential sponsors of the 2009 National Summer Games the opportunity to be associated with a wide variety of highly competitive sports and I believe the National Summer Games will continue to grow in strength and stature as we near 2012.
“I’m personally really excited by the opportunity that First Rights has been given and we will work closely with potential sponsors to put together bespoke packages to fit their needs and brand profiles. The Special Olympics is an extraordinary event and offers a fantastic opportunity for the right sponsor, perhaps a major firm or figure in the legal world.”
