International legal practice Norton Rose Group is promoting 16 associates to the partnership. The new promotions take effect from 1 May 2008.
 
Peter Martyr, CEO commented:
 
"We have continued a strategy of growth this year and added to the 19 laterals who have joined in the last 11 months with 16 new internal promotions.  Our new partners are all supporting growth in our key areas of business and in some cases substantially increase our footprint in smaller offices outside London."
 
There will be six new partners in banking, three in corporate finance, two in competition, two in dispute resolution, one in real estate, one in tax and one in construction.  The promotions will create five new partners in London, three in Munich, three in Amsterdam, two in Dubai, one in Brussels, one in Prague and one in Shanghai.
 
The firm also appointed 19 new lateral partners over the 07/08 financial year making for a total of 35 new partners in the last 12 months.
 
Details of the new partners are as follows:
 
Klaus Bader (Munich); Klaus has a broad range of corporate finance experience including; domestic and cross border M&A transactions, private equity, and real estate finance and funds. He also has particular expertise in international tax law having qualified as a certified German tax advisor.
 
Davide Barzilai (London); Davide is an Islamic finance lawyer with expertise in all areas including asset finance, property finance, fund related work and debt capital markets. Together with Neil D. Miller and Farmida Bi, Davide will lead the world's most highly regarded Islamic finance group.
 
Duncan Batchelor (Munich); Duncan is an asset finance lawyer with particular expertise in aircraft finance, ship finance, rail finance and cross-border leasing transactions. His focus will be on the transport sector and in addition to his German practice he will concentrate on opportunities in Russia and Eastern Europe.
 
Marek Belsan (Prague); Marek is a banking and real estate lawyer who will concentrate on developing the Prague banking practice.  His experience includes M&A, private equity and capital markets.
 
Daphne Broerse (Amsterdam); Daphne is an infrastructure lawyer with particular expertise in real estate, construction and environment. She is a specialist in the Amsterdam team on all PPP matters.
 
Oliver Charlesworth (Dubai); Oliver is a banking lawyer with particular expertise in project finance, acquisition finance and Islamic finance.  His work in the region has included transactions in Dubai, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi.
 
Dorian Drew (London); Dorian is a dispute resolution lawyer and has particular expertise in contentious financial services work and investigations. He has a wide variety of experience in commercial disputes and has provided discrete advice to clients, particularly in relation to market abuse and anti-money laundering.
 
Christian Filippitsch (Brussels); Christian is a competition and regulatory lawyer with clients in a wide range of sectors including natural resources, electronics, banking, pharmaceuticals, chemicals and petrochemicals. Christian's practice is focussed on German competition law and also acts for major Japanese companies such as Sanyo.


Radford Goodman (London); Radford is a dispute resolution lawyer with particular experience in restructuring and insolvency. He recently acted successfully on the HIH House of Lords judgment which is recognised as a landmark in cross-border insolvency law.
David Hawkins (London); David is a real estate lawyer who specialises in large-scale development and investment transactions acting for international and domestic property investment funds, public and private company developers and corporate occupiers of all types of commercial real estate.
 
Stanley Lai (Shanghai); Stanley is a corporate finance lawyer and has particular experience in the laws and regulations relating to listings/M&A in Hong Kong.
 
Jamie Nowak (Munich); Jamie is a corporate finance and employment lawyer with expertise in outsourcing projects.  He is also a certified specialised labour lawyer.
 
Martin Preston (Dubai); Martin is a construction lawyer and his practice covers both contentious and non contentious work. He has extensive knowledge of the construction market in the Middle East and particular expertise in concessions and development contracts.
 
Remco Smorenburg (Amsterdam); Remco is a tax lawyer with particular expertise in international and Dutch corporate taxation. The main focus of his practice is finance transactions, M&A/private equity, funds and property work.
 
Mark Tricker(London); Mark is a competition lawyer with all-round expertise in UK and EU competition law and has advised leading clients such as HSBC, Carlsberg and G4S on competition matters.
 
Paul Vine (Amsterdam); Paul is a banking lawyer with particular expertise in structured finance, corporate restructuring, banking regulation and insolvency. Paul joins from the London office and his focus will include the leveraged buy-out market in the Netherlands.
